SeaWorld

Graphic Design Work

Overview

To promote Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience at SeaWorld San Diego, I designed a graphic poster that visually captured the beauty and emotional depth of the exhibition while ensuring clarity and accessibility. The primary objective was to create a striking design that communicated key information with a clear visual hierarchy.

Creating Sketches of Poster Designs

- Started with some free-hand sketches of potential layout designs for the contents of the poster

- Testing out visual appealing placements for images/text

Designing Color + Images Digital Layouts

- Used Figma to craft detailed prototypes focused on layout, type hierarchy, and spatial organization
- Explored multiple placements of headings and subheadings to enhance legibility and visual balance

- Gathered and implemented feedback throughout the design process

- Created and evaluated ~10 printed color iterations to refine contrast, color palette, and text alignment

Designing B&W Digital Layouts

- Developed detailed wireframes using Figma to illustrate the layout, emphasizing content hierarchy and interaction

- Testing out various sketch designs

Final Design

- Crafted a modern look inspired by SeaWorld's banding aesthetics, incorporating sleek typography and a bold color palette

- Ensured the design was fully flushed, with emotional resonance with viewers

Printed Poster

- Various physical color prints of the illustrated SeaWorld posters

- Final design successfully communicated both the key information and emotional tone of the exhibition
